When is Thanksgiving in 2019 and 2020?
Thanksgiving; A day when we celebrate thanking for all the blessings given to us by God. It’s basically an annual holiday celebrated not only in U.S and Canada but also in different countries; Canadians celebrate it on the Second Monday of October whereas the U.S celebrated it on the Fourth Thursday of November.
So Following the U.S, Thanksgiving in 2020 will fall on 26th November, and in 2021, it will fall on 25th November.

The Americans celebrate this day remembering the event when the English Colonists arranged a feast for the native Americans in order to thank them for helping them to live in the U.S and start their new lives.
It started in 1620 when some English Colonists went for a pilgrimage in order to seek a new Homeland. These Colonists didn’t know how to harvest. Therefore, some Native Americans helped them and taught them how to harvest. So, when these Colonists actually got successful, they arranged a feast calling the native Americans and celebrated Thanksgiving.
Therefore, Thanksgivings is celebrated to show gratefulness for all the blessings that we are given and the harvest. How and where did it started from, varies differently with different nations. To add more, on 26 November 1789 George Washington declared the First Thanksgiving Day nation-wide. Later on, Federal legislation in 1941 set the fourth Thursday of November as “Thanksgiving Day.”

Thanksgiving is celebrated by many people worldwide; They gather together and have dinner with each other to socialize and know each other in a better way.

How did the dates vary for years?
Thanksgiving Day was supposed to be celebrated on the final Thursday of November as proclaimed by President Abraham Lincoln in 1863 and this rule was followed until 1939, the year when Franklin D. Roosevelt, the President declared that Thanksgiving should be celebrated on the fourth Thursday instead of the last one. As mentioned before, Congress also approved it in 1941.
Not only in the U.S and Canada, but it’s also celebrated in the Netherlands and Saint Lucia. The people of the Philippines and Liberia also celebrate it with full energy and happiness.
The Friday after Thanksgiving Day is called the Black Friday; On this day, mostly all the shops and companies offer amazing discounts on their products so that people can re-start the preparations of Christmas.

Thanksgiving Celebration in the U.S
To celebrate this day, the People cooked delicious meals on this day that included Turkey, cookies, sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, corn, and many more.
Not only meals, but many cities organize festivals and parades for this Thanksgiving Day. The most recognized parade is the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade that is one of the largest parades in New York. The most shocking thing about this parade is that it began in 1924 and more than 1.9 billion people attend it yearly.
